Grant
The GB Legacy Grant, named after Gertie Weaver and Billie Carolyn Favors, celebrates their living legacy of strength, perseverance, and opportunity. Each year, SSBA selects one rising athlete to receive this grant, which provides free SSBA services. This includes branding and exposure opportunities to help them excel in their sport.
Who Can Apply
The GB Legacy Grant is open to student-athletes who demonstrate dedication to their sport, strong character on and off the court, and a desire to grow academically, athletically, and personally. Priority is given to athletes who come from low-income households, as the grant is designed to provide opportunities and resources to those who may not otherwise have access.
What the Grant Includes
The GB Legacy Grant provides one full season of SSBA’s Package 2 at no cost, offering athlete training, branding support, and exposure opportunities to help athletes grow on and off the court. This grant helps athletes gain visibility and connect with coaches and recruiters while also granting free access to SSBA courses, including our “Social Media Dos and Don’ts” course and “Interview Prep” class, designed to build professionalism and prepare athletes for success both on and off the court.

Applications open April 15, 2025. Interested athletes can apply by completing the online application form and submitting:
